The Hoosiers (16-2, 4-1) pretty much did whatever they wanted to against the Nittany Lions (8-10, 0-6) in that first meeting. The margin could have been even greater had IU not shot 22-for-34 from the free throw line.
Since that meeting, nothing has gone well for Penn State. The team still doesn't have a win in the Big Ten and most recently choked away a game against Nebraska, the second worst team in the conference.
Last time, Penn State went with a full court press for most of the game and were picked apart by IU. Lately, teams have been getting back on defense in an effort to slow down the Hoosiers and its worked. IU has gone 2-1 since they played Penn State and haven't been able to find its offense. This should finally be a good chance for IU to get out and run with the ball.
Penn State has been averaging just 55 points per game since the Big Ten season started. They are also giving up almost 69 points per game in conference play.
On defense, IU will need to lock down Penn State's back court. They did a great job against D.J Newbill and Jermaine Marshall two weeks ago, but the duo has been playing extremely well lately. Against then No. 18 Michigan State, the duo combined for 56 points.
IU is a heavy 26-point favorite against Penn State. This is a game where Indiana has to come out hard and dominate from start to finish. The Hoosiers have been struggling lately and this will be a prime opportunity for a tune up.
Expect IU to come out fast and push the tempo. They also might try a few new things as they prepare for a visit from No. 13 Michigan State this coming weekend.
